First off, Dino Dogan from DIYBlogger.net interviewed me last week and you can listen to it here. Also, Dino just came out with a great free PDF ebook (no opt in for Blogging Bookshelf readers!) about video blogging. Download it here.
Guest posting is an awesome way to get your name out there, and I think that every blogger should write guest posts frequently. I try to do one every week or two, though I’ve been slacking off the last couple weeks…
If your readers like what you’ve got on your blog, there’s no reason they wouldn’t like to read what you write on other blogs, right? So I recommend making your guest posts easy to find by having all in one place.
There are a few different ways of doing this, so keep reading!
Note that I’m linking to a few people’s blogs here in this post. All of them (except for one) are regular readers and commenters on my blog, so please help me thank them by checking out their blogs and leaving a comment, retweeting their posts, or whatever else you’d like to do. The exception is Bob’s blog, which I only recently discovered (it’s still great, though).
Option #1: Blog about your guest posts
This one is the simplest ways to spread the word about your guest posts, and is the probably the best for sending your readers over to check them out. You just write up a blog post and say something like, “Hey! I just wrote an amazing guest post over on sweetawesomeblog.com about how to make ten thousand dollars on your blog overnight. Go check it out!” And then link to your article. And then send me a link to that article, because I want to read it.
The only problem with this approach is that your guest posts won’t all be in one place. This is easily solvable by creating a “My Guest Posts” category and putting all of your guest posts in there.
Here are two examples of blogging about your guest posts over on Ingrid’s Nitty Griddy:

Option #2: Link to your guest posts in your sidebar
With this approach, you just have a plain text/html widget in your sidebar and you link to your guest posts. You can have images linked or just use plain text. If you use plain text, here’s the html for each link:
<a href=”url“>Link text</a>
And if you want it to open in a new window, use this:
<a href=”url” target=”_blank”>Link text</a>
I’ve seen this on a few different blogs. Bob from Totally Unique Life has got his as links in his sidebar:
Rick’s Internet Marketing Blog and Patricia’s Lavender Uses also come to mind. They’ve got images along with theirs. Here’s a screenshot of Rick’s sidebar:

Option #3: Create a “My Guest Posts” page
This is what I’ve been doing here on Blogging Bookshelf (I recently changed it and I’ll get to that in a minute). I created a page in WordPress where I just list my guest posts in reverse chronological order (most recent on top). It’s simple and effective. I had a link to mine in my main nav menu right under my header, but you could also have a link to it in your sidebar.
Here’s what my page looked like:

Option #4: The… other way…
I don’t know what to call this, but this is what I’ve just done here on Blogging Bookshelf. It pretty much combines a couple of the previous options into one.
A month or so ago, I asked my Twitter followers if they’d like to see my guest posts show up in the Blogging Bookshelf RSS feed. The ones who responded said yes.
So I wanted to include my guest posts in my RSS feed, but I didn’t want them cluttering up my front page that shows my normal blog posts.
Here’s what I did: I made all of my guest posts into blog posts but kept them from showing up on the front page. So that you know what I’m talking about, you can check out my new My Guest Posts page.
Here’s how I did it:
- Created a “My Guest Posts” category.
- Created a blog post for each one of my guest posts and published them with the date each one was published on. Each post is in the “My Guest Posts” category.
- Use the Ultimate Category Excluder plugin to keep all of the posts in the “My Guest Posts” category off of the front page of my blog. (You can use this plugin to keep them out of your RSS feed, if you’d like.)
- Edited the link in my nav menu to go to the “My Guest Posts” category page, which is at http://thebacklight.com/category/my-guest-posts/. I did this with the Page Links To plugin.
- Got rid of the old “My Guest Posts” page.
Ta-da! Now whenever I write a new guest post, I’ll make a new post at Blogging Bookshelf and link to it. And when I do this, those who are subscribed to my RSS feed will see it as a new post.
Over to you!
One last thing… Realize that you can do some combination of these. For example, Rick writes a short blog post about each guest post in addition to linking to them in his sidebar.
So now it’s question time!
- Have you written guest posts? If so, how many? If not, why not?
- How do you display, show off, or inform people of your guest posts?
- Which of the above-mentioned 4 options do you like the best?
Thanks! I’m really looking forward to reading the comments on this one :)

Hi Tristan, I used technique #1 and created a dedicated post listing all of my guest posts. These two plugins sound like a great alternative though. Thanks for the advice.
Glad you found the info about the two plugins useful :) Thanks so much for your comment, Ileane!
one of my blogging goals for this year is to invite people to do guest posts on my blog and do guest posts on other blogs. i’ve already been invited by two so far. these tips certainly come in handy in getting things organized. thanks Tristan! by the way, you’re one of those that i’ll be inviting to grace my blog. c”,)
You should definitely be excited about guest posting this year, Ao! I love it. It’s really a pretty easy way to expose yourself to new audiences. Thanks so much for the comment!
Hi Tristan, Adding Guest Blog to sidebar should work better.
I will soon submit a guest blog post on your blog. Let me know how to proceed.
Kai
Kai, The problem with me adding it to the sidebar is that I’ve written a lot of guest posts! 14 or 15 or something like that. And I don’t want that much stuff cluttering my sidebar :)
I’m actually currently not accepting guest posts on the blog here. Thanks, though!
Have a good one!
Some of my targets involve writing guest posts and also getting some people to write guest posts on my blog, Its important that they aren’t just there to gain traffic, and as your examples show, are actually available so regular readers don’t miss out on the content. I better get to work on writing some up and submitting them. I did submit one at the end of the last year to a website, which was going to be posted, but never seemed to be. Luckily if they don’t post it, I still can, so I’ll have that post up today :)
I love guest posting! It’s been an integral part of my blog’s growth these last couple months. That’s pretty lame that the website never published your guest post. Hmmm… Sometimes, though, it does take a while (up to a few weeks). If the blog owner is running a tight ship, however, he/she would let you know when it’ll be published…
Thanks for the comment, Simon!
Yeah, I was told it was being posted but after about a 3 month break of online dealings I checked their website to see if it was up and It wasn’t, I then logged into their admin panel and my post wasn’t even pending, so figured they had changed their mind. Its a same as it would have gotten me some fantastic exposure, but at the end of the day I will fight on. It may have been because my site was down for a while, well I suspect that wouldn’t have helped at least.
I have been wondering this myself for a while, I mean, people guest posting a lot surely tend to even forget where they posted at all – dramatization I know, but yeah – and the solution you’re suggesting really makes sense.
I am sure I’ll end up using it if I when I get myself into guest posting ;)
Awesome, I hope you do use it, Gabriele!
It’s true, though! If I didn’t keep a record of my guest posts, I’m pretty sure I’d lose track of them…
Hi Tristan,
I am about to try and get my first guest post published but one issue I have is that I really like the post I have written and was half thinking about keeping if for my own site. Your methods above solve this issue by still allowing your own readers to enjoy the content (and drive some traffic to the guest post site) while giving a guest post of significant quality that you’d gladly use yourself!
Brenton, this is definitely a dilemma I’ve faced before, too; do I keep the post for myself or publish it elsewhere as I had originally intended? Every time, though, I’ve published it as a guest post and I’ve been glad I did. It really is just one of the best ways to get your name out there!
Thanks a ton for the comment, Brenton. I really appreciate it.
Hi Tristan
As I don’t have a clue about all this, I got Rick and Ben to put my GP in my side bar for me :-) Rick always chooses great graphics doesn’t he?
I don’t do anything to do with blogging at the rate you do Tristan (you even get a mention in my latest post in this regard ;-)) so it isn’t going to clutter up my sidebar lol
Good practical advice for those who want to put their GP where we have the choice of visiting other blogs and reading them. I have been surprised how many people have clicked the link of both my GP each day! Whether out of curiosity or cos they liked the title, I don’t know. Just that they are regularly clicked.
I like to know if someone whose blog I visit regularly has GP on other blogs. Get to visit another blog and also support a fellow blogger too. Thanks for sharing Tristan.
BTW did you not sleep yesterday….59 comments and top of the class :-)
Patricia Perth Australia
I just read your last post and I loved the mention :D
That’s great that your guest posts get clicked so much! I haven’t looked at the stats on mine recently… I’ll have to look into that.
Keep in mind, Patricia, that that 59 comments is ONLY on the CommentLuv-enabled blogs. I actually commented on 104 blogs that day!
Hey Tristan,
I used to link to mine in the sidebar and do a post on my blog about each guest post.
Of course, I have done only four and my plans for 2011 include a few guest posts, so I have now made a page for guest posts. I don’t know if I will do a special post to talk about them, though. I guess I will make that decision when I do them.
By the way, did you see Gabriele Maidecchi’s commentLuv link to “Christmas is Over- Time to Stop Slacking”? Hilarious title. Going to need to check that out.
Weren’t we just talking about titles….
I guess here’s another option if you don’t want to dedicate a whole blog post to your newest guest post. You could write a short sentence at the beginning of your next blog post that goes something like this: “I just wrote a great guest post over at whateverblog.com about whatever. Go check it out!” And then you could keep track of your posts on a page, like you were saying.
Hahah, Gabriele’s title IS pretty awesome. Going to go check that out right now…
I haven’t written any yet, cause I am kinda scared :)
I can’t think of something really cool to offer to a blogger with established blog. However, I do plan to do it and I hope to get over it and do it soon.
I like your guest post page and I like the links in the sidebar.
The more you write about guest posting the more I think about writing some ;)
Why are you scared? This is something I’ve never understood! If people like your posts on your blog, then why wouldn’t they like your posts on a different blog?
The problem with the links in the sidebar is that I have a LOT of guest posts! Like 14 or 16 or something now, and that would take up a lot of room in the sidebar. I think it would clutter the place up, you know?
Thanks, Brankica!
Hi Tristan,
Thank you for the nice screen shot :-)
I began putting guest posts on my sidebar when I first started the blog. I didn’t have a lot material at the time, and needed to squeeze all the juice I could from what I had.
FamousBloggers was my first GP, and since they were a lot more famous than me, I wanted to show that I was good enough to be “approved/endoursed” by a bigger name.
The idea sort of stuck, because the reasoning remains valid regardless of how big a blogger may become. New visitors may never have heard of you, and the GPs can be *instant* Authority symbols that validate you in their eyes–before they read a single word of your content.
I have too many now, so I will only have a few at a time on the sidebar going forward.
Oh, and I use graphics to accompany them at the side because they Pop ;-)
Rick
Rick, I really like what you’re saying here. Someone comes to your blog, sees your guest posts, and BAM. Instant social proof and credibility. I hadn’t thought of that, but that is a great reason to have the guest posts in your sidebar.
Thanks, Rick!
Hey Tristan! Awesome, as per usual!
I haven’t done a lot of guest posting. But what I have done, I have not advertised to the masses. Stupid, huh? I will take your lead and perhaps put them in the sidebar. Thanks for the great reminders of what I should be focusing on.
You should DEFINITELY be guest posting, Susan! It’s awesome, and one of the best and easiest ways to get more traffic to your site, IMO.
Hi Tristan,
These are awesome tips – I really like the “excluded categories” method. Think I’m going to steal that one, too.
I’ve got the page with all of my posts in one place – I don’t know if I’ve got the best title for it though (My Offsite Posts – Read more by Kiesha). I’m also getting ready to put a few that I’m really proud of in my sidebar as a linked image to the blog. I guess I like the idea of having numerous methods – I work hard on those posts – I’m proud of getting published on Problogger and other popular blogs and I want my readers to see them.
Thanks for that last tip!
I like “My Offsite Posts — Read More by Kiesha.” It’s more interesting and specific than “My Guest Posts.” I think it’s an awesome idea to put guest posts that you’re particularly proud of in the sidebar!
Thanks, Kiesha!
Thanks Tristan
I have yet to even begin to guest post on other blogs but this information was helpful to me for the near future.
I have often seen guest posts from other bloggers but they had not linked to them in their sidebars, had just posted a brief 2 line post sending me to the guest post blog site, I know now how to do it correctly when the time comes.
Alex :)
Oh man, you’ve got to get on guest posting! It’s freaking awesome.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the comment!
Thanks, Tristan.
I like the idea of putting my guest posts in the sidebar with graphics. As Rick says, they pop!
Listing my gp’s on my site is on my To Do list for this month. Thanks for showing the various ways to do it.
I’ve just recently put a page up allowing people the chance to guest post on my site. So I’m looking forward to having some awesome guest posts. I’m also going to do more guest posting myself this year.
Have a great day! :)
Peggy
Awesome, Peggy, I’m glad you found the post useful!
And speaking of to do lists… Ugh. Mine is massive and growing daily. I should probably start completing some of the things on it!
You know what I’d like to see? An article on how to show off the guest posts that have been writen FOR your blog. I would be interested in this. I have had some good guest posts that I’d like to promote so other potential guest bloggers will be interested. :)
An article on how to show off the guest posts written FOR your blog? Well… just use one of the things mentioned here in this post! So put them in the sidebar or make a special page for them.
This is something I’ve been trying to incorporate in my blog. I’ve written a number of guest posts but havent quite figured out how to bring them to my blog exactly. I had a link in the main navigation bar but wasnt happy with it. I think I’ll try the sidebar.
Also, interesting stuff regarding RSS feed…will have to think about that…so far, I’ve turned one giant video blogging post (originally a guest post) into a video blogging ebook that you so graciously plugged at the very beginning of the article. Thnx for that brother :-)
Yeah, no problem Dino :)
Glad you found the post helpful! Thanks for commenting, man.
I haven’t written many guest posts. I believe it’s five. But like you, I understand the importance of guest posts, and I want to write one per week (but I think I might have to finish my novel first).
I haven’t published my guest posts anywhere on my own blog, and not in my RSS. I thought about it a few days ago when I looked at your blog. I thought, why don’t I show everything I do (related to my niche) on my blog? My readers should know about everything, because my guess is that they’re not reading many of the blogs I’m already reading and they’re not reading the guest posts on the other blogs either (actually, my readers should be the first to read everything I publish). What we should do is write a blog post about the guest post before we publish it, and tell our readers about it? To me, that sounds like a good idea, but I’m not sure if it is :)
What you’ve done, especially in the menu, seems like a good thing.
I think finishing your novel first might be a great idea :)
I don’t think writing a blog post about a guest post before it’s published is the best idea, though, because you won’t be able to link to the post!
Tristan,
I recently changed and moved my guest posts to my side bar but it is way to plain and I have really liked Patricias so I was considering that. But now I like your page with the plugins. Maybe a combination of both.
I do like going to the other sites and visiting your guest posts. I found you through a guest post you did on Anas’ Traffic Generation Cafe. It has been a good find!
That’s great that you found me through Ana! She’s got a great blog.
Thanks for taking the time to comment, Sheila, and thanks for visiting my other guest posts :)
BTW, apparently there’s going to be a podcamp in SLC in March? This is a tweet from Thom Allen, the organizer (@ThomAllen), from a day or two ago: “Mark your calendars: #PodCampSLC will be March 19th, 2011. More info to follow. Asking for volunteers, presenters and sponsors.”
Hey Tristan,
I’ve done #1 each time, and it seems to work well.
I checked out your #4 option and I think it looks great. Thanks for sharing all these options!
Susanna
No problem, thanks for stopping by, Susanna. I really appreciate the comment!
Hi Tristan:
Making sure that guest posts are read by as many people as possible is a great idea. Tristan you have explained different ways of doing it, Navigation bar and a page with the list of all guest post is a good idea to me. I will seriously work on it When. I am writing and publishing guest posts. Because hands on experience makes it much easier to experience and understand.
fran A
Great, Fran, I’m glad you liked the post and found it useful. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment, and let me know when you implement one of these strategies!
Hey, I missed writing here :).
How are you Tristan – hope 2011 is starting off well for you.
First and foremost – thanks for using “my way” as an example and for those 2 fabulous screenshots (wow – I didn’t know that the method I used was considered a method at all – let alone a good one YaY :).
I actually did that for my first 2 GP’s (as is obvious by the images) but since I was traveling when the third one got published – I made a not of it and the blog it was on in one of my SuperPost Sunday articles. It was basically a small blog within a blog.
I recently included a page called “My Guest Posts” that you can see on the right hand side of my blog – it includes the list of GP’s I’ve done so far (Title plus host/link) – (similar to but not as impressive as yours) hopefully getting there – slowly but surely. That way I can have a sort of double exposure – a small post and a page listing.
I’m hoping to include a nicer widget once my new blog design is up and running. I like how Rick and Patricia have done theirs – and the fact that they have an image to go with it. I like that idea. I also like how Jordan Cooper from NotAProBlog.com has his – not sure if you’ve seen his page or not.
I also like your “other way” method. I’ll look into that and the plugins you used a bit more – so thanks for sharing :).
And to answer your first question:
I’ve written 4 GP’s so far – 3 have been published and the other will be in about 10 days. I’m also working on another 6 :) (I’ve been honored to be asked to write them – each for a different blog)!
As for what method I like most:
Damn – I like them all! But I like the idea of having a “My Guest Posts” page plus a nice image to go alongside each title and host.
I’m not gonna’ tell you what a good post this is – you already know plus I’m out of good synonyms for “great”, “awesome”, “super”, “fabulous”, “fantastic”…. :)
Cheers Mr. Higbee
Always a pleasure coming by here.
I missed your long comments too, Ingrid :)
I actually found your blog through your first guest post on Famous Bloggers. It was a good find, eh? And I just checked out how it’s done on NotAProBlog.com, and I like it!
Thanks as always for the comment! When’s your next guest post going to be? Get on it, girl!
The next GP should be out on Gini’s blog – SpinSucks.com – on the 20th I think (or around). I’ll definitely keep you posted as I’d love to hear your thoughts on it.
I’ll keep you posted on the rest for sure!!
Thanks Tristan
PS. I’m sorry for the wait on the answers I still need to get to you – I’m a bit dependent on those. But I’m sending something your way in the next few days :).
Another PS. You ARE indeed the “human R2D2 of blogging” :). It’s truly remarkable what you’ve accomplished here and so fast. Every single one of you posts is a must read! And they all have incredibly valuable take-aways!
Heyyyy Tristan
I generally write about a guest post on my blog when it goes live to help push a bit of additional traffic to the other blog – plus, I always stand behind my content so I know my readers will enjoy it.
I also started a “my guest posts” section on my blog to show off where else I’ve been on the web recently – just something small and didn’t take long but adds a lot of credibility.
(Like my new niche business I’m starting? More on that later :P)
Dude, that’s awesome that you’re starting a PLR business! I’m planning on doing the same here shortly (as you might have guessed from my latest post). Looks like it’ll be fun!
I agree, having a “My Guest Posts” page does add credibility. It’s like, “I’m so awesome, one blog can’t even contain me!”
Thanks for the comment, Murray! Good luck with the PLR, man.
Nice! This is a great blueprint to have for when I start getting my guest post on.
The Category Excluder plugin is gold, man. Gold!
I think your guest post requests will be increasing, despite the no guest post policy.
John, why haven’t you gotten your guest post on yet? Come on, man! Guest posting is awesome!
And yes… the guest post requests HAVE been increasing! Hmmm… I’m going to have to make that disclaimer more prominent…
Tristan – Great article on promoting the guest post you have written. Everybody is telling their readers to write guest posts, but I appreciate you going one step further and sharing some tips on getting more exposure for your guest post.
I like the idea of a My Guest Post page, and linking to your guest posts in your sidebar is also a great tip that I plan on using as soon as I start guest posting. Option #2: Link to your guest posts in your sidebar. Thanks for the tips. One of my main goals this year is to get started with writing my first guest post, so wish me luck.
Thanks, John, I’m glad you enjoyed the post and found it useful. And I WOULD like to echo what everyone else is saying… You SHOULD be writing guest posts :)
Guest posting is an incredible way to get new readers, backlinks, and traffic. So yeah, get on it, John! And good luck!
If i knew how to code, i would say you could grab that plugin that shows the gravatar of the latest contributors and change it so that it links to their guest post. Not sure if that would work though :P
Hmmm… That could probably be done as long as you had their email address! Pretty cool idea, Peter. Thanks man!
I dont really show off my guest posts but maybe should. I find your guest post useful so maybe so will my readers.
Yeah, exactly, Edwin. If people are reading the stuff on your blog, they obviously are interested in what you’re writing, so you might as well let them know about the other stuff you’re writing, too.
Great Ideas Tristan. I don’t do guest posting yet, but I have a lot of my work ‘Out There”. I use various combinations of all those – except the last one – that’s pretty darn Slick bud!
Great Job!
Allan, you should definitely get your guest post groove on! Guest posting is awesome, and you build relationships, backlinks, traffic, and readers all at once!
Hi Tristan,
This post of yours will be very helpful for me when I start my guest post adventure. Before, I never realized the many benefits of guest posting for the guest poster and the blog owner. After reading your post, I guess it adds as a writing achievement for any blogger who has his/her guest post published on another blog.
Thank you for sharing!
Johanna, guest posting really is an AWESOME way to get traffic to your blog, so you should definitely do it. I’m glad you learned some good stuff from this post, and thanks so much for leaving a comment!
It’s a double purpose I guess. Now, you can also make use of your guest posting that can help your credibility as a blogger. Of course, it’s a blogger’s privilege to have a post on someone’s blog so why not telling to your readers too that you had that opportunity.
Exactly, Samantha. A lot of bloggers think “Alright! I’m going to do this guy a HUGE favor by giving him free content and writing for his blog.” But the opposite is usually the truth: The blogger is doing the guest writer a HUGE favor by giving him access to his established audience!
I think the list we can all do is link back to the blogs that let us write for them.
Yeah, you’re right with the linking back. At least be proud that a famous blogger invited you to write a guest post for him.
My guest post feature still does not work on my blog, but in time I shall join your ranks of stardom! :D
Ash
Start today, Ash! Guest posting is freaking awesome!
Really diggin these ideas Tristan. I plan on doing at least 12 guest posts in 2011, and have my first one coming up on Men With Pens in about a week. The idea of posting articles in the side bars makes a ton of sense as well as the concept of having a separate page.
When it comes down to it, guest posting is all about reciprocity. Two smart people combine forces to create a greater result. It’s powerful and it works.
As always, thanks for the read my friend….
Marcus
12 guest posts in 2011, eh? Awesome goal! And wow, Men with Pens is a GREAT one to start out with! I’ve been meaning to write for that blog but have been in a bit of a guest posting lull lately.
Like you said, guest posting is powerful, and it does indeed work!
Shoot me an email or tweet when the MWP post goes live and I’ll go over and leave like 20 comments :)
Tristan,
What great ideas and what good timing. Sometime (in Feb. likely) I am going to be making a push to start doing a guest post a week for a while. I may well be timing it to coincide with NOT posting 7 times a week on SSS. (Feb 14 will be 1 year of posting 7 times a week….I am too close to stop now)
Anyhoo,
These steps will come in handy. I would probably do #1 anyway, #2 I of course thought about, but likely won’t do. But #3 and #4 both seem like awesome Ideas I really had not thought about. What great ideas! thanks!
Steve, dude, I’m really excited for you to not have to post every day any more! I did that for a loooong time and moving down to 3 days a week was a piece of cake by comparison!
I’m glad this post gave you some good ideas! Thanks as always for commenting, man.
I haven’t gotten the courage up to begin writing guest posts yet, but it is on the top of my list of things to do this year. I’d love to exchange some articles with you sometime. Feel free to contact me via my blog.
Oh man, Jared, get on those guest posts! Guest posting is huuuuuge! I’m actually not currently accepting guest posts, so I’m going to have to pass on the article exchange. Thanks, though! And thanks for the comment, man.
Hi Tristan!
I have written a few guest posts and well, their fabulous! :) Anyways, this is a great great great idea and I love it! So, Im going to do it. Thanks for the tips.
All the best,
Lisa
Yeah, isn’t guest posting great? :D
Thanks for the comment, Lisa! Good luck with your future guest posts.
Hi Tristan.
What a great post with plenty of options for getting those gust post on display. I plan to use the dedicated page option with images, just need to make the time and get them up. I am not likely to do a regular guest post schedule until March, working on some niche sites now, but I will mix in one here and there.
These are all fine options and I could not agree more, this is something every blogger needs to do.
Thanks for the reminder and the info. :-)
Jimi, when I first saw the link in your CommentLuv (How to Follow Through on Your Goals), I thought “goals” was “goats.” And I’m not gonna lie, I was a little bit intrigued :)
I appreciate the comment and am happy to hear that you liked the post! Let me know when you do get around to those guest posts; I’ll come comment and give you some glowing praise :)
Hey Tristan,
I actually don’t link to any of my guest posts yet, though that’s something I’ve been thinking (and planning) on doing. I’m probably going to create a dedicated page with the title “Christina on the Web,” then list my guest posts there, the contests I’ve won on other sites, any interviews I’ve been featured on, and so on.
These are all great ideas though – and I especially like the last one where you hide the guest post updates from regular readers so that they can show in your RSS feed.
Christina
Christina, I think “Christina on the Web” is a great idea! I should probably do something like that, but it will have to wait until the next time I redo my guest posts page :)
Thanks for the comment!
Guest posting is really helpful and putting it on the right way you can establish your name. Your tips here Tristan is very helpful as always. I am not using sidebars but as I can see, it is very convenient and it make sense. Thanks!
Great! Glad you liked the post, John. Let me know if you have any other questions about guest posting.
Lovely post. What I find is that when some writes a guest post for my blog they fail to promote it. Even when I tell them they still fail to do so. It’s like they only expect to get traffic from the guest post that they have written. I was suppose to make a page with my list of guest posts but I haven’t got around to it as yet :(
Whenever I write a guest post I make sure to tweet it, ask for retweets on it, stumble it, post it to my facebook wall, sometimes blog about it. But I always make sure to promote my guest post. Because if I want to write for that blog again I want to make sure that the blog owner saw that I was promoting my guest article and will accept another article from me.
Thanks for this tips in this post
I love guest posts and that’s either way, whether I do the guest posting or whenever someone guest posts on my site. I love it in the snese that it’s both a win-win situation for both the site as well as the guest poster. Mainly that’s traffic as well as being able to reach a new audience.
And about my guest posts, I actually created a guest post tab on my site so that my readers can access it all in one area and it looks more organized.
Hi Tristan – I just started doing guest posts so it’s very timely that I got linked to this post. So far I’ve been emailing my lists about the guest posts, however I’ll be using a combination of the techniques you mentioned as my list grows. Thanks!
Option #4 is absolutely a great idea and I will definitely put that on top of my todo list. The plugin sounds good too and I was for one that works well. Fortunately, with your experience, I won’t even spend anytime at all to install it. Thanks for giving me another thing to do, lol.
I’ve written a few guest posts, and my favourite method of showing off about it is to unashamedly post about it with a screenshot.
@tristan yes the concept of Guest blogging is really very helpful to promote the blog in very organic and quality manner. It gives your blog refferal traffic, one easy backlink & good reputation to your and your blog also in blogging world.
I also tried for this but not found good resources for that. can you share with good sites for this.
Hey Tristan
Cool post – only just found it. timely for me too as I’m about to have MY first guest post published in the next few weeks.
What’s cool is the blog it’s going to be published on is something that i found via YOU! So thanks for that – now I’ve read this I’ve worked out exactly how to publicize the guest post on my blog.
Here’s a potential 5th method for you to consider – if you have an email list then email your list when it’s published and get them to go read it and post some comments!
Keep on keeping on, catch up with you soon.
