Plan and Launch Your Blog with The Blog Planning Kit (free PDF, no opt-in)

October 17, 2010 · 21 comments

This is a free, downloadable, printable PDF ebook that I wrote because I like blog planning and I like lists. Whenever I start (or think of starting) a new blog, I make a bunch of lists. The lists are so that I can have a fully-developed idea of what I want my blog to be like in terms of content and design, plus what my roadmap is for things like promotion and monetization. When all of these lists come together, you get the Blog Planning Kit.

I got tired of just writing out all of the notes randomly on normal paper and never quite remembering all of the things that I should think out, so I digitized the whole thing. Out of the kindness of my heart, I’ve made it freely available to all :)

You can download the PDF at the end of this post and distribute it freely. It’d be great if you retweeted it. Below is a list of all of the 8 pages:

  1. Intro
  2. Blog Overview
  3. Blog Post Ideas
  4. Blog Marketing Channels
  5. Monetization Strategy
  6. Guest Blogging Chart and Schedule
  7. Blog Layout
  8. Weekly Blogging Schedule

And here’s what the 8 pages look like:

So yeah. That’s it! Again, leave feedback below if you’ve got comments or suggestions.

Hey Tristan, How cool is that! Thanks for sharing your book. It was nice of you to share it and maybe it will encourage me to get organized. Have a nice day!

Thanks, Ileane! Part of the reason I wrote it was so that I’d be more organized myself whenever I started a new blog! And then I figured that since I’ve already got most of this stuff written up, I might as well turn it into a little ebook and put it on the blog!

I came across this a little late, but it may help me get things straightened out. A quick look and I can already tell that you’re going to force me to think about things I didn’t want to think about – like what my specific topic is and what Keywords I want to target. later is better than never I guess!! Thanks Tristan for these worksheets. I’m sure they’ll help :-)

Thanks, Pamela! I’m always a fan of giving stuff away for free unless it’s something REALLY awesome and groundbreaking, and then I think it’s best to over-deliver on value.

Will I ever retweet, thank you so much, I have browsed the net, bought ebooks, tweeted for a detailed plan like this for over 2 years, this is exactly what I have been looking for, lol
I use xsitepro2, which does the technical stuff for me, I just needed instructions like this, lol to really get me on track, again thanks so much, Kathy

The last page “weekly blogging schedule”
Its a small thing, but we read by turning a page from ‘right to left’.
I think the page would be better if it was turned 180º, so that if u put it together as a book, say a three ring binder or stapled at the top and u flipped through it the “weekly blogging schedule” wouldn’t be upside down.
Love all ur info.
I’m just starting.
Thx
Carter

Thank you very much, Tristan!!

I’m in the process of migrating a static website (with Blogger blog attached) to a WordPress blog and merging two other WordPress blogs into it . . . this Planning Kit is proving invaluable!!
